Randy’s first job at Koetter Woodworking was operating various manufacturing equipment which he did throughout high school. At the age of 16, Randy started a business, Koetter & Smith, he went into a partnership with Sam Smith. Once graduating from high school, he went on to marry his high school girlfriend, and they were blessed with three daughters and now seven grandchildren and this year will mark their 43rd wedding anniversary.

Randy has also served on numerous boards throughout his career.  Starting with St. John’s Parish Council for three years right out of high school, Clark County Community in Schools where he was a founding member and served for ten years, One Southern Indiana where he was the chairmen and served for six years, Borden Park Systems where he has served for 15 years and is still an active member, and lastly the River Heritage Conservancy Park System Board where he still serves.  One thing Randy has learned from working on the River Heritage Conservancy Park System Board that has surprised him is the importance of having and executive director that reports to the board. In his opinion, it has allowed the board to stay on track and overall have much more productive meetings.
